Background and Qualifications

Mr. Miller is an accomplished musician, teacher, and conductor, and plays piano, pipe organ, and brass.  

 

Mr. Miller received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, where he continued a study of music that actually began when he was 7 years old.  He also received his masters degree from Emory University with a specialty in music.

 

While at Emory he was accompanist for the famed Emory Glee Club, and was also the university organist. He has performed for live audiences both nationally and internationally, has played for radio and television, including a two year stint with the worldwide Armed Forces Network.  He has made several recordings.

 

Mr. Miller is also a vocal conductor, and has directed church choirs and choral groups for 35 years.

 

Mr. Miller is gifted in working with children and with older students.  He has taught in private schools and in a center for gifted students for 30 years.  Mr. Miller has received many honors, including Teacher of the Year.  He has been honored by the Walt Disney Company as a Disney Dreamer and Doer teacher and he was chosen to be included in "Who's Who Among American Teachers", an honor that is awarded to the top 3 to 5% of all of the teachers in America. 

 

Mr. Miller's professional memberships and affiliations include the California Music Education Association, (CMEA), the National Association for Music Education (MENC), the American Guild of Organists (AGO), and Pianoteachers.com.
